Cabinet Guy, adiós

So we hired the cabinet guy as quickly as we fired him. The guys in Chicago said I had a Golden Horseshoe up my a**. Sometimes I really think that is true. The cabinet guy and I met Thursday morning, and by Saturday night I hadn't heard back from him. I really tried to stress to him that I have absolutely no patience, apparently he interpetted it as I don't know if I really want to work with her rather than I must deliver everything I can to her as quickly as possible which is what I was trying to get at.

The chain of events that led to my anxious state started with an email from IKEA, 20% off of a kitchen. BS, only if you buy 8 appliances and spend 10K, but I got 10% which is better than none. Not hearing from the cabinet guy sort of empowered me to start designing a kitchen of my own, I only wanted to know what was so hard. Sunday Pat and I drove his monster truck to the IKEA which was only 20 mins away. On the way there I was thinking I've really grown soft. I remember going to the IKEA in Chicago, first I had to find a car and then it took 3 hrs with traffic to get there, once there you battled krazi foreigners for merchandise and associates. Its much easier here.

Anyway we got there when it opened and headed up to the cafeteria for lunch, on the assumption that I'd make much better decisions if I wasn't being distracted by a grumbling tummy. I'm a bit of a crab when I'm hungry, thats why I'm not so good at the diet thing. Hunger would have never stopped me in Chicago, no it would have fuelled my ambition and drive to complete the task. Approximately 4 hours later we were loading our brand new kitchen into the spare bedroom. The luck being that the measurements of the walls in my really old kitchen worked perfectly with the premade IKEA kitchen.

Pat did a drawing of it this morning to share with the electrician that I've got set up for this evening. I don' t think we can fire him, as I don't want Pat to get electricuted. I also picked out paint colors. I've got them picked out, but I'm sort of torn. You see in the beginning my kitchen was painted baby diaheria green and so I'm very hesitant on any green paint color, even though green is my all time favorite color. Once I finally decide I'll post the colors here. For now I'll just share with you my new sink. It weighs 130 pds, that was the nice thing each IKEA box tells you exactly how heavy the stuff that you are about to lift is, all I have to say is that its a little less than I weigh and its really heavy, but the coolest ever.

And to make it even cooler we got this faucet.

On a different note why are movers fat? Hauling crap up and down the stairs was one of the best work outs I've had in a long time. My body is sore and I was exhausted last night.
